Curbside Encore: A Busker Competition

Think you've got what it takes to stop a crowd in its tracks? Show us! 5th Street Public Market is on the hunt for the most talented buskers around to compete in our 2026 Summer Series — and one performer will walk away with $1,000 and the title of 2026 Curbside Busking Champion.

Musicians, magicians, dancers, jugglers — all types of performers are welcome. Buskers will perform live before a panel of judges on Saturday, August 29th, and finalists will return for a championship round on Sunday, August 30th, where our winner will be crowned.

How to enter: Complete the application and include a one-minute clip of your work. All acts must be family-friendly and suitable for all audiences — the Market is a public space, after all!

Gather at the Market and prepare to be dazzled by high-flying aerialists, astonished by gravity-defying acrobats, and enchanted by a cast of whimsical circus performers. Delight in lively music, indulge in classic carnival confections, and immerse yourself in the merriment of a grand anniversary celebration.

For one extraordinary weekend, Market Fest transforms 5th Street Public Market into a vaudeville-inspired spectacle, brimming with wonder, laughter, and old-fashioned revelry. This exhibition explores the history, evolution, and spirit of Eugene’s 5th Street Public Market through photography, watercolor, printmaking, and architectural renderings by diverse artists. Blending archival imagery with personal interpretation, the collection traces the Market’s transformation from a historic industrial district into one of Eugene’s most beloved cultural destinations.

Through scenes of storefronts, streetscapes, seasonal light, and everyday moments, the works reflect the deep connection between place and community while celebrating the Market’s enduring role in Eugene’s identity.

Originally established in 1976 by developer Norm Fogelstrom, the 5th Street Public Market revitalized a once-declining downtown area into a vibrant hub for local artisans, food vendors, and small businesses. Today, the Market welcomes more than 2 million visitors annually and remains a cornerstone of Eugene’s shopping, dining, and arts community.

The exhibition is on view in the Maple Room at Inn at the 5th. Viewing is subject to room availability.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the 5th Street Public Market, you are invited to a reception to experience a curated collection of photography, watercolor, printmaking, and architectural renderings that explore the history, memories, and evolution of the Market through the diverse perspectives of a variety of artists.
