Another Oregon truffle season is upon us, and with it the opportunity to ponder what wine to pair with these earthy delights. Aged Champagne makes a great pairing partner, as does nebbiolo in the form of Barolo and Barbaresco, but we’re in Oregon. While we enjoy imports as much as anyone, there’s no need to ship out for Alba and Perigord truffles and European wine when we have fabulous Oregon pinot noir and homegrown Oregon truffles. Join Provisions wine expert Amanda Littmann and Provisions executive chef Karl Zenk as they delve into the flavors behind the pairings, sample some tasty truffley bites, and sip some amazing wines from our backyard.

Provisions Oysterfest

It’s time for a tasting trip up the coast, as we feast on the northwest’s amazing oysters–from our neighbors in Netarts and Yaquina Bay, up to Washington’s Pickering Passage and Hammersley Bay, we’ll have a range of varieties to taste and compare on the half shell. Growers and shuckers will be on hand to talk about how these delicious bivalves are harvested and the remarkable differences in flavor that you’ll find from place to place. We’ll be shucking around the fountain, grilling a few of the larger varieties, warming up with oyster chowder and pouring muscadet and bubbly–join us for this wintry feast!

Giving Tree at the Market

The 5th Street Public Market has partnered with the Eugene Active 20-30 Club to host the Giving Tree which provides holiday gifts for thousands of needy children in our community.

More than 10 local non-profit agencies are supported through this program.

Pick an ornament from the tree, purchase a gift, and, return the unwrapped gift to the box next to the tree by December 13th.

Volunteers from the Eugene Active 20-30 Club will deliver the gifts to the agencies in time for the holidays.

Items requested include toys, clothing , sporting equipment, and, gift cards, which can be purchased in the Administrative Office, M-F, 8am – 5pm.
