Trib La Prade: Track & Field - Pictures & Perspective.
Track & Field - Pictures & Perspective is an art installation consisting of art, information, and hands-on equipment installation with track and field at its core. The exhibit includes black and white photographs, actual competition implements, and information about the sport of Track and Field.
It will coincide with the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trails that are to be held June 27 - July 6 at the University of Oregon's legendary Hayward Field.
The artist, Trib La Prade, is predominantly self-taught photographically. He has coached the Pole Vault for the last nine seasons at Bolles High School and with the Anti Gravity Pole Vault Club, both of which are in Jacksonville. He was an outstanding high school track and field athlete competing in the pole vault and sprint events. Trib competed on UCLA's Track Team in the Pole Vault for three seasons.
Each image has a Track & Field factoid giving information about rules, events, event history, or other factual information that helps give appreciation and understanding of the sport.
Equipment and implements athletes use in meets are integrated with the images as well. These items will allow visitors to experience the weight and size if the implement and gain a better perspective of the event and its difficulty.
