French Regional Wine Class: Beaujolais

Provisions Market Hall

November 15th, 5-6:30pm

$30

November is the month when we get to taste the very first wine of the year: young Beaujolais. It’s an annual celebration of the harvest, and that first taste gives us a sense of how the vintage as a whole is turning out. This class will look at Beaujolais from a number of different angles- the Crus, Village wines and maybe a rare white or bubbly. The spirit and refinement of Burgundy—but with some differences–informs elegant Gamay and Chardonnay from Beaujolais. This informative class will cover five or six wines, great discussion and light food for a fun connection with our Beaujolais regional dinner in the restaurant.

Holiday Wine Pairing Class

November 6th, 4-6pm

$30

Join our sommelier & retail wine manager, Jennifer Malesich Jordan, for a fun night of pairing wine with holiday menu classics. We’ll be tasting and learning about both familiar grapes and obscure varietals to please a range of guests: the hard-to-please in-laws, the impeccable hostess, the over-stressed holiday baker, and even the wine geek in your life. We’ll talk about menu planning, wine selection and service, and offer delicious, approachable wines for your seasonal celebrations. Sit back, relax and let us play holiday wine matchmaker.

brooks-wineryWine & Cheese Party- Brooks Winery & Ancient Heritage Dairy

Provisions Market Hall

November 3rd, 6:00 pm

Join us for a festive, focused tasting exploring wines from Brooks, a small winery just to the north of us in Amity that makes amazing biodynamic pinot noir, riesling and more—paired with award-winning sheep and cow’s milk cheeses from Portland’s Ancient Heritage Dairy. Winemaker Chris Williams, Ancient Heritage’s Bethany Keuter and our own in-house experts have collaborated to put together a five course tasting of carefully composed cheese plates and wine pairings, and all of them will be on hand to talk about winemaking, cheesemaking and how the flavors work together. It promises to be a delicious, fascinating evening of food, wine and discussion with two of Oregon’s most treasured producers.
