Sushi Pure is going to add new a flavor and culture to the 5th Street Public Market. Owners Preston Shin and Sunny Moon are excited to start this venture and have already gotten off to a very promising start with the success of their soft opening. “I’m not just trying to satisfy (customers) physically, I’m trying to give them a good dining experience,” Shin says. “I want them to experience the culture, as well.” “There will be Japanese colors inside, and a lot of traditional Japanese elements going on.”
Sushi Pure will offer the highest-quality sushi dishes available — as well as less expensive options in smaller sizes. Shin plans to use several recipes that have proven to be crowd favorites in his family’s high-end sushi restaurant in Sacramento for the past 10 years.
“I want to make sure everything is the right way,” Shin says. “Traditional sushi has to be the way it is supposed to be.”
Sushi Pure will be open for lunch and dinner, and will offer Japanese “kitchen foods” such as teriyaki, tempura and sukiyaki as well as hand rolled sushi.
Pure will offer sake, beer, wine and cocktails at its full bar. The restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for lunch, and from 5 p.m. to about 9:30 p.m. for dinner — but will remain open “more like a sake bar” until about 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, he says.
